“Casato Prime Donne”, home of this Brunello di Montalcino, is a 40 hectares vineyard in Tuscany, where the ancestor of the actual owner use to hunt and honeymoon.
It was part of a big estate whose property was of one of the most important Montalcino’s families that, for over 4 centuries, cultivated this land. Estate’s original name was ”Casato”. The name was changed in ”Casato Prime Donne” in 1998 when Donatella became the owner and decided to create the first Italian wine cellar to have a female only staff.
Brunello is a famous long aging red wine made with just one vine variety: the ”Sangiovese”. Brunello starts its commercialization only after 4 years and a half from the grape harvest, at least two of which are just for the maturation in durmast barrels.
